The Association

Who we are

Leopolis e.V. improves the living conditions of Jewish people in need in Western Ukraine. We are a non-profit association registered at the Local Court of Munich (VR 17279) and recognised as a charity by the German tax office.

Our projects pursue no commercial interests, and we are politically independent.

How we work

A small team of volunteers handles the administration in Germany, so that your help reaches people as directly as possible.

For every donation you receive a tax-deductible donation receipt, usually at the beginning of the year. If you need it earlier, just let us know. More on the page Receipt for Donation.

Our founder

Our projects were initiated by our founder Dr. Aleksander Schwarz. From 1993 he helped above all elderly people and children, and he carried the work for decades.

His legacy, our mission

After the death of our founder in November 2014, Dr. Peter Summa-Lehmann and Dr. Mariusz Schwarz took over the work and have continued what he built.

Since the war began in February 2022 this has become more difficult. For safety reasons and because of the situation in the country, we have had to scale back our help, including for the kindergarten. Yet we hold on to his purpose: the people of Lviv should not be left alone. Wherever possible, we continue to help.
